Excellent views over the ocean
We were warmly welcomed by host and owner Bessie, who quickly processed our arrival and undertook all the necessary Covid protocols. Thereafter we were shown how to get to our room, which was situated on the top (second) floor of the building.
Whilst there are a number of stairs to contend with if parked on the lower parking level, it is more than made up for by the great views experienced from any of the rooms on any level. The room itself was clean, comfortable and of a decent size. We had all the necessary items such as DSTV, a wall safe, coffee station and a good sized bar fridge (for your own items you may want to keep cold). It should be noted that whilst there used to be a pub facility on the property, the license has been removed due to a creche opening on the next door property. However, you are permitted to bring your own drinks to the room, which from a cost perspective, in a plus.
The swimming pool situated directly in front of the property was crystal clear and provided a stunning outlook both day and at night. What is quite unique, is that there is an undercover braai area, which can be booked for exclusive use by any guests to enjoy. This is an extremely well catered for facility, with a coal braai, gas braai, full sized fridge and a number of iron pots that can all be utilised to make for a great braai occasion and being all undercover, no issues should it rain. We also noted a sauna, pool table and board games to help keep entertained in need.
The breakfasts are also excellent, with a good variety of self service items to select from and a full hot breakfast of your choice chosen off a menu, which is served directly to the table.
All in all, this is an establishment that is definitely worth a visit. Great hosts too that stay on the premises.

Wonderful stay with excellent hosts!
The hosts are excellent, and made sure that all my needs were met.
My room and bathroom was spacious, neatly kept, had everything in that I needed and also had a balcony with a beautiful view of the ocean!
Breakfast was not only delicious and very tasty, but also a pleasant surprise, as it comes with a menu that has a variety of options. The presentation on your plate is really something to behold. Do not skip breakfast at The Albatros - you will just simply miss out on a appetizing meal to start off your day!
The Albatros comes highly recommended - and will indeed become my place to stay whenever I am on business in Margate!
