Just okay
The waiters/waitress were very good at both the buffet and Luna restaurant. Alejandro at the adult pool bar was very nice, also the young guy, I don’t remember his name, at the bar by the entertainment stage. The bell boy, Karin was so helpful and pleasant and he assisted us with showing us our room and setting the AC up. The maids were always so friendly and greeted us anytime we passed them in the hallways. You don’t get washcloth’s in the room, so you would have to call the reception desk to ask for a face washcloth.
The rooms were a little outdated, the shower tile was chipping off. The mini fridge was not stocked like we have had at other all inclusive resorts. You were lucky to get two water bottles in the room. Had to ask for extra coffee and water if I didn’t get the room cleaned. On a positive side was the bed was firm so we slept well, it was low key so if you needed rest and relaxation it fit into that category.
The reception staff didn’t seem very happy when approaching the desk, just as the other reviews mentioned. I was disappointed about not being able to not swim in the ocean at the resort because it was too dangerous. I guess I should have researched that before booking. We traveled to Medano beach by Uber so we could swim. Then we found another beach 10 minutes away by Uber La Palmilla Beach, family friendly and was safe to swim.

Enjoyable holiday!
The resort is older but was obviously well built. It’s been updated and kept in good condition with a beautiful beach location. The grounds have attractive cactus gardens with tropical plants and trees. Our room was as pictured and everything was in good condition. The buffet restaurant is excellent. There is a wide choice of freshly prepared dishes at each meal. The evening dinner themes of Mexican, Asian, Italian or International were really great. My compliments to the chef!
I have a few comments. It’s good to know that from the street/lobby end to the pool/beach level there is are a couple of flights of stairs. The adult pool is also up a flight of stairs. So it’s not suitable for people with mobility issues. Also it’s important for people to know there is no swimming in this region.
My one complaint is that the speakers used for the activity people and their music is at full volume. Do I need to hear Bingo calls for 10 people yelled all over the resort? Or constant heavy bass drumming? It’s good to have fun but at times I was chased away from the pool to the lobby or my room.
Overall, the Decameron was a great choice for our much needed winter break. We will definitely consider returning.
