Whether its enjoyable or not depends on the person
Feng Ye Di Tu from a teenagers perspective:
To be honest, my sister and I weren't very fond of the place due to various reasons. Firstly, the place was packed with mosquitoes and all kinds of insects. Of course this wasn't really a surprise since we were up in the mountains surrounded by mother nature. However, due to the plantations around the B&B, the number of mosquitoes was ridiculous. I had to keep shaking non-stop to prevent myself from being bitten by mosquitoes and even so I still had at least 10 bites.
The room also felt a bit lacking as it was missing a few amenities. There wasn't any air-conditioner installed in the room. Initially I thought this was fine since we were up in the mountains and there would be cold wind however I was wrong. Even with the windows fully opened with an anti-insect net preventing insects from flying in, it was very warm. My parents had to on both the fan to keep ourselves cooled through the night. Also, there was no mini refrigerator in the room. Which I thought could have been better if it was there. The supposed free wi-fi was also no available in the room and could only be used in the cafe area. Normally this wouldn't be a big issue BUT having to use the wi-fi in the cafe area also means having to fight off the mosquitoes which was a chore.
The design of the room was meh-ish and it looked exactly like the ones shown on their website. It was plain and definitely not one for those who wanna live in a cosy or nice B&B. The cafe area however was nicely decorated with wood like furnishing and many small interesting decorations. The food that was served was also pretty good. Dinner and Breakfast were both provided and there are no additional charges for more coffee, milk or food in the morning. This was pretty nice in my opinion.
The surrounding area quite boring. We hiked around the area and honestly it wasn't worth the effort since the views were all foggy from the mist and we couldn't really see anything. Also, as the place was situated high up in the mountains, there was really nothing to do other than hiking or looking at the owners plantation.
From my parents perspective:
My parents felt that the place reminded them of what it was like to live in a kampong (countryside life). They enjoyed themselves more than me and my sister did. During the tour around the area outside the B&B, they really enjoyed themselves as they plucked fresh strawberries and consuming random fresh fruits that they found along the way that was considered safe by the owner. The driver who drove us there enjoyed the experience there as well.
They also felt that not having air-conditioners in the room made it feel like they were connecting with nature. They weren't really concerned about the insects since all of the insects seems to LIKE me more than any of them. My mum however did felt that the owner could try to create more recreational activities around his area because it was seriously boring after you complete all the existing activities that were there.
My parents believe that us kids didn't enjoy it as much because we grew up in the city and we were city kids which I guess I wouldn't deny? But I guess I would have enjoyed it more if there were less mosquitoes.
Overall, our stay at Feng Ye Di Tu was an eye opener for different reasons. If you are keen in going for something less city like this is the place to go. And if you prefer lesser insects, its better to visit when its colder (Tips from the owner)
